What a Salsa class looks like?
Every class starts with a warm-up to the music, so you get the timing in your body before you learn anything new. Then we break down one or two moves, step by step, first on your own and then with a partner. Partners rotate through the class, so you dance with lots of people and never need to bring your own. We finish by putting the moves together to a full song, so you leave knowing something you can dance at a social straight away.
Your first four weeks of Salsa
A Salsa Tribe Pack gives you four classes, which is the right amount of time to go from "I've never done this" to "I can actually dance this".
- Week 1: the basic step, timing and how to hear the beat in Salsa music.
- Week 2: your first turns and how to lead and follow them.
- Week 3: linking moves into a short combination.
- Week 4: dancing it all to a full song, plus a little styling.
Salsa or Bachata: which should I start with?
Salsa is faster and more playful, with lots of turns. Bachata is slower and smoother, with more focus on connection. Neither needs any experience. If you can't decide, come to the free class: it runs every Saturday, alternating Salsa and Bachata, so you can try both before you buy a pack. Many of our dancers do both, which is why the Value Pack includes four Salsa and four Bachata classes.
Salsa classes in Geelong for every body
You don't need to be fit, flexible or coordinated, and you don't need a partner. Our Salsa classes in Geelong are for adults who want to learn something new, meet people and have fun. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes that turn easily, and bring a water bottle.
After your first pack
Once you've done your first four weeks, keep going with another pack, add Bachata, and come along to Tribe Nights, our monthly social party, to dance what you've learned. Your first Tribe Nights entry is free with every Tribe Pack.
